Key technology

What's specific about Nissan keys.

Nissan uses NATS (Nissan Anti-Theft System) for transponder keys and Intelligent Key for current proximity smart-keys with push-to-start. Older NATS systems (pre-2008) are mechanical with embedded chips; newer Intelligent Key fobs handle proximity entry, remote start (where equipped), and push-button ignition. The Frontier and Titan trucks share key platforms with the cars. Infiniti runs on the same Nissan platform with luxury fobs.

Dealer vs. mobile locksmith

Nissan key — dealer vs. us.

We do the same programming as the Nissan dealer, with the same dealer-grade equipment, on-site instead of at the service drive.

FAQ

Common Nissan questions.

Can you replace a Nissan Altima Intelligent Key?

Yes — Altima Intelligent Key replacement is one of our most frequent Asian-brand calls. Programmed on-site in 30–60 minutes. Bring year and VIN.

What about older Nissan NATS keys (pre-2010 Sentra, Maxima, Frontier)?

Still supported. Older NATS transponder keys are within our standard equipment coverage. We carry the right blanks.

Do you handle Nissan Frontier and Titan trucks?

Yes — both use the standard Nissan platform. Frontier (current) and Titan use Intelligent Key with push-to-start on most trims. Programming approach is identical to Nissan cars.

Nissan Z (the new sports car) — can you do those keys?

Yes — current Nissan Z (2023+) uses the standard Nissan Intelligent Key platform. Within our equipment coverage. Bring VIN before dispatch.
