Piaggio's signature product, the MP3, is mechanically unlike anything else on the road — a three-wheel scooter with a parallelogram front-suspension that lets the bike lean like a two-wheel motorcycle while keeping two front wheels on the ground for braking and stability. From a service standpoint that means more linkages around the front-end ignition area, but the actual key system is shared across the Piaggio scooter lineup: transponder immobilizer with smart-key proximity on the current MP3 530 hpe. The Liberty and Beverly maxi-scooters use simpler transponder-only systems. Commercial Ape 50 three-wheel utility vehicles (rare in US markets) use mechanical-only ignition.

Mechanical / regular keys are flat-rate. Programmed keys (transponder, smart key, push-to-start) and all-keys-lost vary too much by year, model, and immobilizer system to publish a fixed range — quoted by phone before dispatch.

Common Piaggio questions.
MP3 lost-key — does the three-wheel front end change anything?
Not for the key itself — the ignition cylinder is in standard scooter position despite the unique front suspension. We program new MP3 keys on-site with Piaggio scooter equipment. The Piaggio lock-tilt feature (which lets the MP3 stand without a kickstand at low speed) is independent of the ignition system.
Beverly 350 lost-key on a long-distance commute?
Beverly is the maxi-scooter for daily commuting — high mileage, often the only vehicle for a household, no time to wait. We come to you, program the new key in 30–45 minutes, you ride home. Beverly uses Piaggio's standard transponder.
Liberty 150 — most-replaced Piaggio model?
Yes, by volume. Liberty is Piaggio's urban runabout — frequently used for delivery and city errands, often shared between household members. High turnover on lost-key calls. Standard Piaggio transponder programming.
Piaggio Ape (the three-wheel utility van) — different system?
Ape is rare in US markets but where it shows up (often imported by enthusiasts), it's mechanical-ignition only. We cut Ape keys by code or impression. $185–$250 flat-rate.
