Vespa motorcycle key replacement & programming.
Lost your Vespa key, broken it in the ignition, or need a programmed spare? We come to you — driveway, parking lot, dealership lot, marina (for watercraft) — and cut and program your replacement key on-site. Corradino D'Ascanio's 1946 monocoque scooter design is one of the most enduring product designs of the 20th century. 80 years on, the Vespa Primavera and GTS still trace directly to D'Ascanio's pressed-steel chassis. Family-owned with dealer-grade equipment in every truck since 2007.
What's specific about Vespa keys.
Vespa lives in two distinct service worlds. The vintage / collector Vespa scene (pre-1980 PX, P-series, Sprint Veloce) is pure mechanical-ignition work — these are restoration-grade ignitions, often pitted from decades of Italian-summer humidity, frequently needing the cylinder rebuilt or carefully matched to original-spec replacement. The modern Vespa scene (Primavera, Sprint, GTS, Elettrica from roughly 2014 onward) uses Piaggio Group's transponder immobilizer with the bike's ECU. The Elettrica electric scooter adds smartphone-app integration. We carry blanks for both worlds.
Vespa models we service most.
Coverage typically extends across the full Vespa lineup. If your model isn't listed, call us — we likely cover it.
Vespa motorcycle key pricing.
Mechanical / regular keys are flat-rate. Programmed keys (transponder, smart key, push-to-start) and all-keys-lost vary too much by year, model, and immobilizer system to publish a fixed range — quoted by phone before dispatch.
Whatever we quote on the phone is what you pay on arrival — key blank, cutting, on-site programming, dispatch all included. For the full motorcycle-services overview see the /motorcycle-keys parent page.
Common Vespa questions.
I have a 1968 Vespa Sprint — can you help with its ignition?
Yes — vintage Vespa work is some of our favorite. Pre-1980 Vespas are mechanical-only ignition with no electronic anti-theft. We cut keys by impressioning the cylinder or by code, and we can rebuild original cylinders that have pitted internally. Vintage cylinder work is more art than mass production — we treat these like collector cars.
Modern Primavera or GTS 300 — what's different?
Current Primavera, Sprint, and GTS use Piaggio's transponder immobilizer with smart key on premium trims. Programming requires the bike's ECU. We can program new keys on-site with European motorcycle equipment in 30–45 minutes.
Vespa Elettrica (the electric one) — different than gas Vespas?
Yes — Elettrica adds Vespa Mia smartphone-app integration and uses an updated key/credential platform. We can replace physical keys; app-bound credentials are managed through your Piaggio account directly.
The Mod-culture / Roman Holiday vintage market — do you do estate-clean ignitions?
Yes. We work with vintage Vespa collectors and restorers across our markets. If you've inherited or bought a 1960s–1970s Vespa with no working keys, we can either rebuild the original cylinder (preserving authenticity) or grade-match a period-appropriate replacement. Quoted case-by-case.
